In this 8-week class, you'll get hands-on experience with the tools, techniques, and designs used in jewelry casting. You’ll first spend time in the studio learning how to shape and refine wax models by hand, which will later be outsourced to a professional casting service**. Once your pieces are cast, you'll learn how to clean up and finish your cast pieces by removing "sprues", smoothing surfaces, and preparing the piece for final detailing.
**You'll learn how to use the weight of your wax carving to calculate an estimate for the pricing of your metal casting, but you can expect to spend between $20-100 per piece depending on your choice of material (bronze or silver) and the weight of your carving.
